SARAJEVO, February 5 (FENA) - Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, Vojin Mitrović spoke today with US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson in Sarajevo on improving the political and business climate in BiH, as well as ways to attract significant foreign investment in the area of transportation and communication.
Minister Mitrović emphasized that creating the conditions for faster economic growth and stopping the departure of people from the country as its greatest resource, is a key goal of the new convocation of the BiH Council of Ministers.
Mitrović emphasized that the Ministry's priorities include better connectivity through the motorway network in BiH, and continued construction of the Vc Corridor and the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway.
He particularly emphasized the need for modernization of BiH rail transport, adding that the US support in the implementation of this goal would be very significant.
Ambassador Nelson expressed hope that after the appointment of the new Council of Ministers of BiH, the political situation in BiH would be better and that BiH would become a significant ground for new US investments.
In this regard, Ambassador Nelson announced that the United States is developing a new five-year assistance plan for BiH, which will, among other things, be aimed at developing tourism as the fastest growing industry in BiH.
Emphasizing that telecommunications are an area of significant interest to the US investors, Ambassador Nelson said that the US companies are also interested in the BiH railway reconstruction project, stated the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport.
