Džaferović: Vučić's reaction worryingly mild, Dodik's ultimatums shall not pass

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 16 (FENA) -  Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Šefik Džaferović commented in a statement to FENA a meeting held on Saturday in Belgrade at which Milorad Dodik again threatened secession of the RS from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Milorad Dodik unnecessarily continues going to Belgrade to discuss the issues that concern Bosnia and Herzegovina alone and the issues that will be decided exclusively in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Instead of unnecessarily raising tensions in BiH and the region, he would be better off complying with the Dayton Peace Agreement, the BiH Constitution and decisions of the BiH Constitutional Court, and unblocking the work of the state institutions.

Yesterday, in the presence of the President of Serbia and the patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, he repeated the threat of secession. Milorad Dodik will never secede a single inch from the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it must be clear to him and everyone who might be dreaming about it.

It must also be clear to him that his arrogant threats, insults, and blackmails will not pass. We do not accept any ultimatums, nor are we afraid of Dodik," Džaferović stressed.

He also commented on statements by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.

It was worrying to see the mild and neutral reaction of Serbian President Vučić to Dodik's speech on Saturday, as well as to his earlier statements.

If Vučić truly respects the Dayton Peace Agreement, the sovereignty and integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as he claims, then he must also make it clear to Dodik and everyone around Dodik that secession is impossible, that the decisions of the Constitutional Court must be respected, and that the institutions of the State of Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be blocked," Džaferović concluded.
