Russian Embassy condemns attack on participants of anti-fascist event in Mostar

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 17 (FENA) – Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina issued a press release today following an incident during an anti-fascist event in Mostar, condemning the attack on participants in the event.

“Barbaric attack by hooligans, which took place on February 15 during the anniversary of the liberation of Mostar from fascist invaders, deserves every condemnation and appropriate reaction from the authorities,” it is said in a statement.

The Russian Embassy considers it "very worrying that today, in the year when we all together commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory over Nazism in Europe, neo-Nazi phenomena is taking place in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the cradle of the anti-fascist partisan movement in the Western Balkans".

“We call on all progressive forces in BiH, international organizations and the international community to join forces in the fight against neo-Nazism and neo-fascism, as stated in the UN General Assembly resolution on "Combating glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance", which was adopted in December 2019 and supported by Bosnia and Herzegovina,” it is said in a statement.
