RS representatives’ attitudes remain unchanged, no decision making at BiH level

ISTOČNO SARAJEVO, February 20 (FENA) –  Political representatives of Republika Srpska who are serving as state level officials will not participate in any decision-making within both Houses of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, the Council of Ministers and the BiH Presidency.

BiH Presidency member and President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, reiterated this today after the meeting in Republika Srpska representatives in Istočno Sarajevo.

Dodik pointed out that this was a working-consultative meeting where the policies on participation in decision-making in BiH institutions were further explained and presented after the decisions of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska.

“A joint proposal by the Serb and Croat parties on amendments to the Law on the Constitutional Court of BiH will be submitted to parliament today or tomorrow for consideration. The proposal can also be useful for Bosniaks,” said Dodik.

Namely, it was proposed that the three current foreign judges are removed from the Constitutional Court and that three new judges be elected from the representatives of the three constituent peoples and confirmed by the House of Peoples of BiH Parliamentary Assembly, and the other judges will be elected as it has been done so far - four from the Federation of BiH and two from the Republika Srpska.

Dodik also addressed the issue of “the inter-entity line” and reiterated his call for representatives from the Federation of BiH to participate in these talks, claiming that only three percent of that line was marked, which is a regulation under the Dayton Peace Agreement.

“There is no doubt about political determination of the Republika Srpska representatives to respect the decisions of the RS National Assembly, and if nothing happens in 60 days we will convene the session of the entity assembly again, but we are ready to discuss any issue,” he said.

Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Zoran Tegeltija also addressed the press and said that after the meeting there is a clear decision that work would continue in the BiH institutions, but that no issues would be decided.

He announced that such meetings would continue to be held, and a coordination body would be formed to deal with topics of interest to RS political representatives.

Apparently, the meeting was called after Dodik's meeting with US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson, who, according to the US Embassy statement, reminded him that the US expects nothing less than full respect for the Dayton Peace Agreement.

Dodik told RS media immediately after meeting Nelson that he saw the meeting as a threat, but that the US administration would not be able to stop defending the interests of BiH entity Republika Srpska, and added today that he is not afraid of the threats of the US Ambassador.
