SARAJEVO, February 25 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Staša Košarac, is attending the final conference "Support to Facilitation of Trade between CEFTA Parties" in Tivat (Montenegro), organized as part of the Open Regional Fund for foreign trade of Southeast Europe".
The project is implemented by the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the International Trade Center (ITC), and aims to support CEFTA structures in their efforts to implement obligations under Additional Protocol 5 to CEFTA, which provides a framework for removing trade barriers between the CEFTA parties.
The objective is to further facilitate regional trade in the CEFTA region by reducing and eventually eliminating non-tariff measures that most disrupt trade.
Košarac recalled that implemented activities in cooperation with the GIZ project resulted in adoption of the Decision establishing a validation procedure for the mutual recognition of national programs of CEFTA authorized economic operators of the contracting parties.
“Also, in cooperation with this project, the CEFTA Customs Risk Management Strategy was prepared and adopted. It is expected that at a special meeting of the CEFTA Joint Committee, a decision on facilitating trade in fruit and vegetables, which has been prepared with the support of this project, will be adopted today,” said Košarac.
He stated that the basis for this year's BiH Presidency of CEFTA is the implementation of the Agreement and its additional protocols, as well as the implementation of activities from the Multi-Annual Action Plan for Creating Regional Economic Area (MAP-REA) related to trade issues, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH announced.
