Turković: BiH strongly supports regional cooperation

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 26 (FENA) - BiH Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and Foreign Minister, Bisera Turković, organized a briefing today in Sarajevo on the current political situation in BiH for heads of diplomatic and consular missions and heads of international organizations accredited in our country.

In her address, Turković outlined BiH's priorities for international relations. She emphasized that BiH is a strong advocate of regional cooperation and that it is ready to expand cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, education, science, technology, culture and tourism. At the international level, priority areas for BiH are environmental protection, transnational crime, terrorism, migration, and the goals of the United Nations. In achieving these goals, BiH continues to work with friendly countries to contribute to global progress.

Speaking about internal challenges, Turković said that recently, both domestic and foreign public have been exposed by the anti-Dayton activities and statements of individuals in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Such public statements and rhetoric are deeply troubling, given that they are contrary to the efforts of both the international community and the citizens of BiH to promote peace and progress in this part of Europe," she said.

Turković emphasized that such phenomena are also contrary to the vision of BiH, which shares the same values with the family of nations within the European Union.

She added that there are many factors that unite the peoples of BiH, and that the desire for peace is one of the most important, while remembering the trauma of war.

Concluding her address, Turković emphasized that a strong BiH is also a strong, stabilizing and constructive member of the international community, therefore she hopes to strengthen joint partnerships and bilateral relations with each of the individual countries and organizations in order to achieve common goals.
