POČITELJ, February 27 (FENA) - Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to BiH, Ji Ping, visited Chinese workers and managers at construction sites on Corridor Vc, Počitelj-Zvirovići, together with the Bosnian-Chinese Friendship Association to learn about the progress and to make sure that all workers are feeling well.
Faruk Borić, President of the Bosnian-Chinese Friendship Association, said that companies that are engaged in the work will complete the project to the highest possible standards.
“Today, we visited two construction sites operated by Chinese companies in BiH, with representatives of local authorities led by the mayor of Čapljina, Smiljan Vidić, who expressed faith in these companies saying that they will finish projects according to the highest standards and very professionally, regardless of the difficult situation China is in today due to the current situation with the coronavirus,” said Borić.
Čapljina Mayor Smiljan Vidić said that construction of a new 11 kilometer highway is very significant for this town, Herzegovina and the entire state.
The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to BiH, Ji Ping, said this is a very important bilateral cooperation project.
“I must emphasize that the Chinese company State Construction, which is working on this project, is also the main contractor for the construction of a hospital in the Chinese city of Wuhan, that is, they built the hospital within 10 days, which fully demonstrates their ability and their spirit. Although their families are in China, they are making every effort to work here, and I believe they will finish this project as planned and in line with the contract,” Ping said.
He noted that all Chinese workers in BiH were self-isolated and that there are no problems regarding their health.
“Everyone has said that they are satisfied with their work and life here, but some citizens here are a bit more concerned about the coronavirus and I would like to tell them not to worry. Chinese people are hardworking and principled, we have obligations to ourselves, so if workers or managers feel that something is wrong, they will safely and voluntarily go into isolation,” Ping said.
He added that the fight against the virus has not yet been completed in China.
Počitelj-Zvirovići subdivision is 11 kilometers long and with its construction this part of Herzegovina will be directly connected to Medjugorje and the European Union via Bijača border crossing with the Republic of Croatia.
The construction is financed through the loan agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) of EUR 100 million and the European Union grant of EUR 5 million provided under the Connecting Agenda through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).
