Dodik: There is no need to remove the church from Fata Orlović's courtyard

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA, February 28 (FENA) - Milorad Dodik, President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), said today that the church in Konjević Polje near Srebrenica, which was built in the courtyard of Fata Orlović, should not be removed.

“I said earlier that it should be replaced, when I was thinking as a citizen, but now as a politician I do not think it should be done until everything is resolved and clear in our mutual relations, even if it becomes a matter of the European Court. Let that court resolve the Sjedić-Finci case, ” he said.

They started moving things out from the church in Fata Orlović’s yard in Konjević-Polje, according to the relocation of the Orthodox Church, based on the October 2019 judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, which ordered the removal of the church from private land of the Orlović family.

Dodik said Republika Srpska (RS) is considering withdrawing of the approval for the formation of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH.

“In the next period we will propose to withdraw our consent from the transfer of competencies previously given to the HJPC. If things escalate, we will do the same on other issues. We think it's a legitimate attitude. BiH has no right, either constitutional or Dayton, for the existence of the Court and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH,” Dodik told reporters in Banja Luka.

At the session of the SNSD Executive Committee, they also rejected the Law on the High Judicial Prosecutorial Council adopted in the House of Representatives and demanded that it be rejected by the delegates in the House of Peoples of BiH until the final procedure and claim that the SDS and PDP vote in the House of Representatives is related of that law is an example of "betraying the interests of RS".

They dismissed March 1 as a BiH holiday, because, he said, "it was not proclaimed by any act at the state level, and that it is a working day in RS and for representatives of Serbs in joint institutions."

The SNSD Executive Committee rejects, as Dodik stated, the way of addressing the EU Ambassador, Head of the OSCE Mission and the US Embassy in Sarajevo to Serbs employed in state institutions, and considers this an inappropriate interference with BiH's internal affairs, since violates its sovereignty and Article 41 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

"We think it's an act of threatening to employees," he said.

They have accepted the proposal for a cooperation agreement with the organization represented by Bijeljina Mayor Mićo Mićić, who Dodik showed to journalists in Banja Luka, and will be signed by SNSD Vice President Radovan Višković.

He also said that the Executive Committee rejected and "condemned threats by the High Representative Valentin Inzko RS and its officials, and at the same time tasked its officials with speaking to all members of the international community on the broadest basis in order to raise arguments regarding the current situation in the RS.

They also seek to continue efforts to establish a dialogue on outstanding issues at the BiH level with other entities and representatives of constituent peoples.

“In RS nobody needs to worry, no peace will be threatened. I fully guarantee peace and stability in the RS,” said the SNSD leader.
