SDA: Russia pursues a policy of contradiction in BiH

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 4 (FENA) - A statement released by the Russian foreign ministry supporting the SNSD's bill on the departure of foreign judges shows that Russia is pursuing a policy of contradiction, whose sole purpose is to destabilize political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated today the Party of Democratic Action (SDA).

The party points to the fact that the presence of foreign judges in the Constitutional Court of BiH is a Dayton Peace Agreement category, not more or less than the existence of entities and cantons, and it cannot be removed through ultimatums and blackmail.

“What if we, on behalf of the pro-Bosnian forces, said that we did not want to participate in the work of the institutions until the entities or the Houses of Peoples were abolished?! To conduct such a policy is inconsistent with the Dayton PA and the Russian Foreign Ministry knows this very well.

It is a paradox that the Russian Federation, on one hand, declaratively states that it is against foreign interference in BiH's internal affairs, while at the same time taking a stance on the ongoing political matters in BiH, continuously endorsing the anti-Dayton demands and ultimatums from the entity of RS,” stressed the SDA in a press release.

The SDA emphasizes that this position of Russia is a major obstacle to achieving stability and compromise in BiH. Because any such statements and similar moves, it is added, encourage Milorad Dodik to continue with his policy of ultimatums and blockades. Given the extreme effects of such a policy by Milorad Dodik, it is obvious that Russia’s goal, by encouraging him, is to keep BiH in a blockade and prevent it from moving towards EU and NATO membership,” the SDA underlines.

“The Russian Federation has made constructive contributions through the Security Council and the PIC for decades, supporting the formation and operation of the Hague Tribunal and the use of the Bonn powers, but it is obvious that this policy has changed and that the aim now is to destabilize the situation in BiH and beyond, so it could trade with such a situation on a broader scale of geopolitical relations.

Bearing in mind that this interference by Russia is overt and direct, this is a very clear message to our partners, first of all in Washington, but also in Brussels, that they should not allow Moscow, through its local anti-European and anti-NATO partners, to interfere with the strategic interests of the region: the stability and progress towards NATO and the EU,” concluded the SDA in its statement.
