SARAJEVO, March 8 (FENA) - The Balkan Youth School, an educational platform in the humanities, social and religious sciences, opened today at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS).

This year, 20 students from Bosnia and Herzegovina's universities will have the opportunity to participate in the school activities.

The Balkan Youth School has been held for several years at IUS, under the auspices of the Turkish Diaspora and Related Nations Office of the Government of the Republic of Turkey (YTB).

Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to BiH, Haldun Koç said at the opening of the school that it represents a good start for young people because they are the future of this country.

"We are proud of them because they represent the future of their countries, but they play an important role between the two countries, especially in the region. We attach great importance to Bosnia and Herzegovina and believe that the stability of this country affects the stability of the entire region," Koç emphasized.

He said Turkey is a country that wants to improve BiH's stability and prosperity.

"These young people will be the drivers of stability and peace in the future," Koç said.

Head of the IUS Social and Political Science Department, Muhidin Mulalić, emphasized that the same youth school is being held in many Western Balkan countries.

"Our aim is to bring together a group of young students who will use this school to network, gain knowledge and experience, and to create a platform for young people," said Mulalić.

He said the program is rich, has six modules and two workshops covering several areas, and that participants would visit Turkey at the end of the program.
