SARAJEVO, March 9 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Affairs Staša Košarac received today US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Maureen Cormack, who is visiting BiH.
They discussed the economic and political situation in BiH. The interlocutors exchanged views on the negative impact of the coronavirus on the BiH economy and expressed concern that further development and spread of this virus could endanger business relations and contact between companies and institutions in BiH.
During today's meeting, they discussed the development of the energy sector in BiH. In this context, they emphasized that it is necessary to align BiH's legislation with the EU acquis, with a focus on meeting the requirements of the EU Third Energy Package.
The interlocutors emphasized the need for BiH to become a member of the World Trade Organization as soon as possible, and stated that it was necessary to adopt a decision on the quality of petroleum products.
Minister Košarac and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Cormack also addressed political relations in BiH following the latest decision of the BiH Constitutional Court regarding the status of agricultural land in the Republika Srpska. Minister Košarac said that the issue of the Constitutional Court of BiH is political from the point of view of dissatisfaction of the two constituent peoples in BiH with the way the institution functions, as well as the presence of foreign judges in the Constitutional Court of BiH, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH announced.
