Entrepreneurs warn of economic consequences due to municipal waste in Mostar

FENA Press release

MOSTAR, March 10 (FENA) - Association of Entrepreneurs of Herzegovina (APH) expects responsible people to take all necessary steps to prevent re-blocking of municipal waste in Mostar.

"As much as it is comforting to hear the news that Uborak landfill has been unblocked, we want to point out the devastating consequences of potential new blockades and the negative images of Mostar under the huge amounts of accumulated municipal and other waste. We point out the economic importance of tourism for Mostar and Herzegovina, and what visitors to our city have seen in recent weeks does not look appealing to tourists at all," APH stated.

They also point out that other services in the city rely on the successful development of tourism, and as the income of those who provide their services increases, the overall prosperity of the city increases too.

“All citizens are also following news about the coronavirus these days, and the images of the accumulated garbage on the streets of Mostar certainly make us more nervous and worried. We are convinced that relevant services of the utility companies will find ways to stop repeating such situations in Mostar. Examples from other cities and municipalities show how this can be achieved," it is said in a statement.
