SARAJEVO, March 11 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina's Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Staša Košarac, said today that meat exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Turkey were not banned but suspended.

As a reason, he stated that the BiH Veterinary Office had received various information regarding the possible manipulation of meat exports to Turkey and the findings established by that office.

Therefore, he demanded that an urgent meeting be held of all actors involved in the export of beef meat to Turkey.

“One slaughterhouse did all the work and I think it is not good, it is very important that all certified capacities enable this business activity in order to primarily purchase our domestic production,” said Košarac.

He also added that he had urged to improve this business activity with Turkey in such a way that the quota would be 8,000 tones instead of 3,000 tones.

He believes that this is a contribution to the development of primary agricultural production and the development of the livestock fund in BiH and to enabling all enterprises that have registered certified slaughtering activities to be equally involved in the meat export business in Turkey.
