SARAJEVO, March 12 (FENA) - The situation with emergence of coronavirus has also caused a decrease in number of passenger at Sarajevo International Airport. In February, we had a decrease of two percent compared to the same month last year, while the number of passengers in the last ten days decreased by 21 percent compared to the same period last year, confirmed to FENA spokeswoman for Sarajevo International Airport Sanja Bagarić.
She added that the entire tourism sector has been highly affected by the spread of this virus, and the Sarajevo Airport is no exception.
Bagarić points out that there were no direct flights to France and Spain to begin with from Sarajevo, countries that were designated as risky, while the other flights operate according to the established flight schedule.
“All other flights are performed according to the established flight schedule, so today we expect the arrival of planes from Istanbul, Munich, Cologne, Vienna, Belgrade, Zagreb, and return flights to these destinations are planned,” she said.
Representatives of the Sarajevo International Airport, Bagarić added, are in contact with all relevant institutions, and all measures are taken to reduce the exposure and the possibility of transmission of the infection.
In line with the recommendations of the Crisis Staff of cantonal and FBiH ministries of health, measures are being implemented to strengthen epidemiological surveillance at border crossings,” underlined Bagarić.
