BIHAĆ, March 13 (FENA) - At today's meeting, the Task Force for the Coordination of the Migrant Crisis Management and Control in the Una-Sana Canton (USC) began preparing the Lipa site for the placement of all migrants from the center of Bihać, as well as the current restrictions on the coronavirus threat.

“I received the support of the Task Force for establishing the Lipa camp outside the center of Bihać, which is in line with the City Council's conclusion. Given that we currently have more than 1,500 migrants in abandoned facilities and city streets, we will first move them to a new location. Immediately after that, we will also move towards relocating people from Bira and closing this temporary center. I hope that we will have the support of the European Commission and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as well as the competent institutions of BiH. However, if we don’t, we will go into this project on our own. We simply cannot allow the city to be overrun,” said Bihać Mayor Šuhret Fazlić.

Members of the Task Force also announced that the Una-Sana Canton police, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), will immediately restrict the movement of migrants currently residing in temporary centers, but also try to minimize the entry of new illegal migrants into the area of this Canton.

“The reason for this measure is, of course, the current situation, namely the spread of the coronavirus. We will restrict the movement of all users of reception center services, and we will also send letters to all carriers to terminate the transportation of illegal migrants to the USC area. All BiH citizens must adhere to certain precautions because of the threat of coronavirus infection, and so must foreign citizens,” says Cantonal Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić.

The Health Minister of USC Nermina Ćemalović confirmed that all persons are confirmed that all persons were placed in reception centers under health control and that there were no suspected cases of coronavirus.

Also, attention was again drawn to the importance of relocating unaccompanied minors and children from the Temporary Reception Center in Bira to one of the more adequate reception centers outside the Una-Sana Canton.
