Gudeljević: Realization of universal care for general health care is important

SARAJEVO, March 13 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Civil Affairs Ankica Gudeljević, at the invitation of World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Director Hans Kluge, participated via video link in a joint meeting of Western Balkan health ministers on health systems in the Western Balkans and the European Union.

Gudeljević informed the conference participants that the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs, in coordination with the entity Ministries of Health and the Department of health and other services of the Brčko District, has been working to improve BiH's health systems.

“Joint activities of the Office of the World Health Organization for BiH and the competent institutions in BiH define the priority activities carried out through the Two-year Cooperation Agreement between BiH and the Regional Office of the World Health Organization for Europe,” emphasized Minister Gudeljević.

She emphasized that the current situation in connection with the coronavirus pandemic reminds us all of the importance of universal care in general health care.

Gudeljević concluded that health priorities were defined through the “Joint Action for a Better Health in Europe” program, with the following priorities: health security, capacity building in the area of international health regulations, digitalization of health systems, especially in the context of health reporting and health aspect of the environment.

The Ministers of Health of Albania, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia also participated in the meeting on the topic of approaching the health systems of the Western Balkan countries and the European Union, the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs stated.
