Ajdinović: Mandatory 14-day isolation of all persons who enter BiH begins today

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, March 16 (FENA) - Mandatory 14-day isolation for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and others entering the country at border crossings or airports in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has started today at 6 a.m., said Director of the FBiH Administration for Inspection Issues Anis Ajdinović at an extraordinary press conference in Sarajevo on Sunday.

Travelers entering BiH are required to complete a sanitary questionnaire, however, as of today, there will be no need to do so, as mandatory isolation of persons returning to the country starts. Ajdinović stresses that this will significantly facilitate the work of sanitary inspectors deployed at border crossings.

“BiH citizens who come from Italy, Spain and Germany were obliged to go to isolation for 14 days. As of today, this applies to all BiH citizens, regardless of which country they come from. They will be sent for isolation to their homes and will have to comply with the measures adopted. The question is how to ensure that citizens adhere to isolation measures because all available human capacity is at the borders, but we are working to find a solution. This type of crime requires the involvement of cantonal Ministries of Interior and relevant prosecutors' offices to be involved in the entire process of monitoring BiH citizens in isolation. We are ready for these activities and we want to keep things in balance,” Ajdinović said on Sunday.

As he said, the data show that in these moments BiH resists the virus, because there are not many cases of coronavirus infection. He believes that the next fifteen days will be crucial in the fight against this "monster".

He also emphasized that detailed checks of passengers will be carried out at the Bijača, Kamensko, Gorica, Izačić, Šamac and Orašje border crossings, as well as two Tuzla and Sarajevo international airports, and that, if necessary, the same will be done at the Mostar airport.
