SARAJEVO, March 17 (FENA) - The BiH Council of Ministers Chairman Zoran Tegeltija announced today, after declaring the state of a natural or other disaster caused by a coronavirus pandemic in Bosnia and Herzegovina, that the construction of tent settlements - quarantine at border crossings - would pose the biggest challenge.

"This will be done in cooperation with the Armed Forces of BiH. Also, the biggest challenge will be the issue raised by the Government of the Federation of BiH regarding the law on public procurement for the purpose of procurement of medical equipment. We have to make decisions about this," Tegeltija pointed out.

He added that the tent settlements will operate under the supervision of health care institutions, and he expects the BiH Ministry of Defense to provide logistics.

"The ministries of health are preparing the locations for the settlements and the number of facilities needed. At the moment it is certain that there will be three such facilities on the northern border with Croatia," Tegeltija confirmed.

He stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina is at the very onset of the fight with coronavirus epidemic and called on citizens to act in accordance with the recommendations of health institutions.

The decision on the state of natural or other disaster was made in accordance with the Framework Law on Protection and Rescue of People and Material Property from Natural and Other Disasters in BiH, under which the BiH Coordination Body for Protection and Rescue is established that will be led by Minister Fahrudin Radončić.

"This body will be in charge of cooperation of all competent institutions, from local institutions, entity and the state-level services, to coordinate all the activities undertaken in the fight against coronavirus," explained the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

With regard to the Decision on prescribing additional conditions for the entry of foreigners into BiH, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina today made an exception with regard to the fact that the measures for banning entry from certain countries do not apply to the drivers of cargo trucks and pilots.

He says that additional health measures will follow, which means, for example, that "a driver coming from Italy can bring goods intended for BiH under certain conditions."

In addition, an exception has been made regarding diplomats accredited in BiH.
