GORAŽDE, April 9 (FENA) - The eighth coronavirus infection case has been registered in the area of Bosnia Podrinje Canton (BPC) in Goražde.
An elderly patient (1944) was admitted with pneumonia and fever to a triage center at the Cantonal Hospital in Goražde, and coronavirus infection was confirmed by testing.
“The patient was admitted on Tuesday night, and an RTG scan showed unilateral pneumonia, a more difficult clinical picture. We will see more when we make a CT scan whether she will be transferred to Sarajevo,” said director of the Cantonal Hospital Goražde, Dr. Nermina Kamenica.
Director of the Public Health Institute of BPC Goražde, epidemiologist Dr. Medina Bičo pointed out that epidemiological procedures for establishing contacts of a newly infected patient are underway to determine whether it is a new cluster.
“At this point, I can say that we still have not been able to find out who is the first patient in this case. The patient lives in a household with few members who work in different companies in the BPC area. As of this morning, we have been working to isolate all the contacts and put them into home isolation and test them. We have made 30 contacts so far, but there will be more by the end of day. However, I hope that in this way we will stop further expansion or local transmission. Only after all these tests will we find out in what sense they are issuing home isolation recommendations for all those who have been in contact,” Bičo explained.
She stressed that they tested again previously confirmed cases related to the Ginex cluster.
“We got two negative results. One patient was tested twice and the results were negative so we can say that the patient was cured from COVID 19. Other patients who were infected are feeling well and no one developed complications except a newly infected patient with pneumonia and fever,” said Bičo.
