BIT Alliance and UNDP launch digital ideaton to respond to COVID-19 in BiH

SARAJEVO, April 10 (FENA) - Cooperation between the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Bit Alliance Association is formally signed in Sarajevo today through virtual signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The cooperation of the two organizations is based on the common aspirations to use technology as a tool for sustainable and inclusive development in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The partnership between UNDP and the Bit Alliance, as a joint voice of the ICT sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will create important opportunities to accelerate the digitization of government, nurture the digital economy and encourage the information society. In these challenging times, cooperation between UNDP and the Bit Alliance is focused on creating opportunities out of difficulty through a new platform where people can come up with innovative ideas to help society, government and the economy to overcome coronavirus crisis,” said a UNDP Resident Representative BiH Steliana Nedera.

According to the statement by UNDP, the first joint activity of the BiT Alliance and UNDP is the digital ideaton, covIDEJA 2020, which is a platform for finding innovative ideas and solutions proposed by citizens, which will not only help overcome the negative consequences of the current with the COVID-19 pandemic, it will also offer a glimpse into the future towards broader positive change.

The Executive Director of the Bit Alliance, Tatjana Vučić, emphasized that by signing the Memorandum of Understanding, UNDP and the Bit Alliance continue the successful implementation of joint projects and initiatives.

Ideaton covIDEJA 2020 will be launched at www.digitalnovrijeme.ba with support from more than 20 partners, including institutions, municipalities and cities, academic community, professional networks, civil society organizations, private sector, embassies and the international community.

Ideaton will last for two weeks until April 24, with the final goal of encouraging authorities, the private sector, civil society and the international community to implement the ideas proposed, in order to carry out into concrete results that would improve the quality of life for all.
