SARAJEVO, April 14 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Defense Sifet Podžić spoke via video link today with US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson and NATO Commander in Sarajevo, Brigadier General William Edwards, on the engagement of the BiH Armed Forces in the prevention and spread of coronavirus in BiH, as well as current activities carried out in the defense system.
Podžić briefed them on the situation and number of infected members of the Armed Forces of BiH, as well as those in isolation, current activities to implement requests by civilian firefighting authorities across BiH, obtained through the BiH Coordination Body for Protection and Rescue.
“Although the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH are currently operating in difficult conditions, in addition to activities to protect their own personnel and assist civilian authorities, previously planned obligations are fulfilled, such as staff training, dealing with surplus ammunition and explosives,” Minister Podžić said.
Ambassador Nelson commended engagement of the AF BiH so far in assisting civilian authorities and emphasized the importance of the AF BiH in such and similar situations for all residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the PR Office of the BiH Ministry of Defense announced.
