Šeranić: RS citizens understand gravity of situation

BANJA LUKA, April 17 (FENA) - Republika Srpska (RS) Minister of Health and Social Welfare Alen Šeranić believes that citizens of that BiH entity have understood the gravity of a situation when it comes to coronavirus, as evidenced by current epidemiological data, and stressed that it is important to maintain discipline in the coming days.

He called for responsible behavior during the Easter holidays to prevent spreading of the virus.

Šeranić said that 22.000 tests were delivered to the Institute of Public Health in RS yesterday, which were procured with UNDP, and that the RS procured appropriate equipment from China, and received assistance from Serbia, Russia, Hungary and other countries.

The total number of infected persons in the RS is now 500, 234 have been recovered, and 16 persons passed away of coronavirus-related causes.

Šeranić said that 37 patients with a more severe clinical picture are hospitalized at the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka, and seven are isolated.

Four patients are treated in hospitals in Doboj, Trebinje and East Sarajevo and one in Prijedor.

Currently, there are 90 people positive on Covid-19 but do not have symptoms in accommodation facilities, most of them in the Student Center in Banja Luka - 73.
