MOSTAR, April 22 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), Nevenko Herceg, received today Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Bosnia and Herzegovina Ivan Sabolić and Consul General of the Republic of Croatia in Mostar Marko Babić.
Since today's visit is the first official visit of Ambassador Sabolić to the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Herceg wished Sabolić, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Government, success in carrying out this responsible task. At the same time, he thanked the Government of Croatia, which allocated HRK 43 million to help health institutions in BiH, from Orašje to Neum, and in particular to SKB Mostar, which is a reference covid-19 hospital and treats patients from Herzegovina-Neretva, Canton 10 and West Herzegovina Canton.
The officials discussed the current situation in the HNC, with a focus on activities that the Government is undertaking to curb the spread of coronavirus.
"Despite the complexity of the Canton, we have succeeded to prevent the rapid spread of coronavirus in our canton, and it is evidenced by all relevant indicators in the full synergy of health professionals, the Government, the Civil Protection Crisis Staff and all other services, and with the very responsible behavior of our fellow citizens," said Herceg.
Herceg also said that besides fighting the epidemic, the government is also working on devising intensive measures to help the economy, recalling that although the monetary, fiscal and tax policies are not within the competence of the cantons, the government has appointed a coordinating body with the task of proposing a set of short-term, medium-term and long-term measures to assist the economy to be drawn up in cooperation with the relevant institutions, cities, municipalities and employers' associations, and to align with the measures to be taken at higher levels.
Ambassador Sabolić thanked the efforts of the Government, Staff and other stakeholders involved in stopping the spread of coronavirus.
"The fact that the spread of coronavirus is under control is encouraging and I am convinced that this challenge will soon be behind us," Sabolić said.
He also expressed readiness of the Croatian Embassy to BiH, as part of extremely good and friendly relations with BiH, to assist both the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and other parts of BiH in the fight to stop the spread of coronavirus and in all other segments, the HNC Government stated.
