SARAJEVO, April 22 (FENA) – Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Zoran Tegeltija participated today via video link in a regular meeting of the Dutch-Belgian Constituency of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).
The meeting was dedicated to the current economic and financial topics caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, and in this context the economic development and financial stability of the member countries of that group.
Chairman Tegeltija informed those present that all levels of government in BiH responded adequately to the emergence of the virus and adopted timely measures, first of all, to protect lives and preserve the health of citizens, which gave adequate results, and emphasized that it could be said that health and epidemiological situation in BiH is under control.
He emphasized that all measures adopted by the authorities in BiH, as well as the countries of the region and the EU as the most important foreign trade and economic partners of BiH, have a strong impact on the BiH economy, which will require a strong response.
In this regard, Tegeltija said that the support of the World Bank and the IMF will be very important in defining and implementing the measures necessary to support the health sector, and to launch economic activities and restore jobs.
At the meeting, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH expressed hope that the conditions would be created for holding a new Constituency meeting in Sarajevo at the end of June 2020, stressing that the meeting would contribute to further strengthening and enhancing good co-operation, the BiH Council of Ministers announced.
