MoD presents activities on the setup of military dispenaries at AFBiH locations

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, April 29 (FENA) - The progress of the project to establish military dispensaries at the AF BiH locations, which will be the first dispensaries since the establishment of the BiH Armed Forces, was presented today at the AF barracks "Rajlovac".

It is an official completion of construction works on the establishment of a military dispensary at the location of Rajlovac barracks, one of four military locations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The presentation was attended by the BiH Defense Minister Sifet Podžić, AF BiH Chief of Joint Staff, Lieutenant General Senad Mašović, and Ambassador of the United Kingdom Matthew Field, as well as Deputy Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier Morten Henriksen.

The activities of establishing military dispensaries are being implemented within the project aimed at the development of the AF BiH medical services, with the aim of improving the healthcare of the AF BiH members throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus enabling military physicians to carry out examinations and/or, if necessary, make referrals to specialist examinations in health institutions in BiH.

The initiator of this project was the British Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which provided financial resources for its implementation.

Representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH played an important role in the implementation, together with representatives of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, as well as representatives of relevant entity institutions in the field of healthcare ensuring compliance of procedures with the relevant entity and cantonal regulations in this area.

Standards relating to the construction, procurement and equipping of dispensaries were established in 2019, and already in early February 2020, after all legal procedures had been successfully completed, the construction work began.

The construction works on the military dispensary at the AF BiH barracks "Rajlovac" have been completed and the facility now has the necessary medical and technical equipment.

It is planned that works on the military dispensary at Kozara barracks Banja Luka be completed by the end of May, as well as works on the dispensary at Dubrave barracks in Živinice, followed by an official opening of all three dispensaries.

The fourth planned location of the AF BiH, is the "Božan Simović" barracks in Čapljina, but due to a more demanding structural job, the construction works have not begun yet.
