SARAJEVO, May 8 (FENA) - In the past 24 hours in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a total of 577 people were tested, 17 of whom were positive for coronavirus, said today a member of the FBiH Civil Protection Crisi Staff and Director of the Public Health Institute, Davor Pehar, at today's conference of representatives of FBiH institutions.

He pointed out that the largest number of positive cases is in the Zenica-Doboj Canton, in Maglaj and Žepče.

“In the last few days, these two cities represent local communities where we record the largest number of positive samples. One person is positive from the Una-Sana Canton, i.e. from Cazin,” said Pehar.

As of today, a total of 21.764 people have been tested in the FBiH, and Covid-19 has been confirmed in 983 people, Pehar added.

Currently there are 43 patients who are positive for Covid-19 receiving hospital treatment in the Federation of BiH, two of whom had a more severe clinical picture and are on a ventilator.

As of today, a total of 535 patients have recovered from Covid-19 in FBiH, and 414 are currently active.

“During yesterday, we did not have any deaths, so far in the territory of the Federation of BiH, since the beginning of the epidemic, 34 deaths have been confirmed in the Federation of BiH resulting from the Covid-19 infection,” said Pehar.

He pointed out that next week the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health, then the Crisis Staff of the FBiH Civil Protection Administration should issue orders to introduce the next step of easing measures in the FBiH.

“In addition to the work of kindergartens, the use of public transport services, dentist services, gatherings indoors, the use of open spaces in catering facilities primarily cafes, the possibility of practicing outdoor sports and many other measures will be considered. The epidemiological situation allows us, if it remains at this level, to consider these new possibilities, so that these new orders governing all these areas could be adopted at the end of next week and then take effect,” said Pehar.

He also talked about measures related to the operation of catering facilities. He said that the original idea was to allow the use of catering services in those facilities that have an outdoor offer.

“Measures will be specially prescribed for these services as well, which will be binding both for user of the services and for owners of the facilities and catering employees,” said Pehar.
