BANJA LUKA, May 8 (FENA) - President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) Milorad Dodik expects the state of emergency in Republika Srpska (RS) to be abolished by May 20.

“SNSD Executive Committee requested today that the Government request a session of the RS National Assembly next week to abolish the state of emergency and return it to the emergency situation,” said Dodik at a press conference in Banja Luka.

He claims that the state of emergency, which was introduced after the occurrence of coronavirus, contributed to the more efficient work of the entity institutions, and that there can be no talk of abuse, and that the curfew will be maintained until the state of emergency is abolished.

As for the case of Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Staša Košarac, who attended a private party in Sarajevo where valid protective measures and recommendations were not respected during the coronavirus epidemic, Dodik said that a proposal had been sent to the SNSD disciplinary commission and that Košarac cannot be a candidate on any electoral list in the next two rounds.

When it comes to local elections, Dodik said that the SNSD asked the chairman and ministers from that party in the BiH Council of Ministers to vote for the decision to support the election process, in the amount requested by the BiH Central Election Commission (CEC).

“We expect that the Court of BiH and other institutions will give their opinion on the election of CEC members, although we do not like that some international organizations have already expressed their position on that,” he added.

The SNSD leader reiterated criticism of the work of the OHR and High Representative Valentin Inzko and his report to the UN Security Council.

The situation in quarantines and the possibility of their abolition will be discussed in the next 10 days, depending on the situation in the region.
