SARAJEVO, May 13 (FENA) - In connection to the announced 'Mass for Bleiburg victims', members of the Bishops' Conference in Bosnia and Herzegovina in a joint statement have resolutely rejected "all unjust judgments and insinuations related to the Holy Mass, which will be held on Saturday, 16 May, at the Sarajevo Cathedral of the Sacred Heart".
"We, the Catholic bishops, resolutely reject all unjust judgments and insinuations regarding the Holy Mass, which will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at the Sarajevo Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and, in this regard, we expect good will of all churches and religious communities and all peoples, as well as their representatives, accepting the right for someone to think, believe and behave differently, but always within the framework of the law and with respect for the autonomy of the Catholic Church," said the bishops.
The bishops' statement underlines that it is their own and inalienable right of all churches and religious communities to perform their worship, prayers, and rites.
"Respecting the right to religious freedom, BiH recognizes to the Catholic Church and its communities any rite, the freedom to perform its apostolic mission, especially in terms of worship, administration, teaching and the activities of its societies," the BiH Bishops' Conference reminded.
The Bishops Conference added that worship, prayers and rites in the Catholic Church have a religious aspect and they exclude any form of political, legal or judicial significance.
