SARAJEVO, May 15 (FENA) - Apostolic Nuncio to BiH, Monsignor Luigi Pezzuto, as a representative of Pope Francis in a statement for the newspaper "Katolički tjednik" (Catholic Weekly), pointed out that he fully supports the statement of the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljić.
Monsignor Pezzuto said that the Apostolic Nunciature in Sarajevo fully supports the statement of the Bishops' Conference of BiH, which states, among other things, that Catholic bishops resolutely reject all unjust judgments and insinuations regarding the Mass to be held on Saturday, May 16, in the Sarajevo's Cathedral of the Sacred Heart for the victims in Bleiburg, to be led by the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Cardinal Vinko Puljić, the newspaper reports.
They remind that during his pastoral visit to the capital of BiH, on June 6, 2015, Pope Francis said in a speech to the members of the Presidency of BiH that Sarajevo and BiH have "special significance for Europe and the whole world."
He also pointed out that the capital of BiH rightly bears the epithet of a "European Jerusalem" and in fact represents a crossroads of cultures, peoples and religions, and such a role, they say, "requires that new bridges be rebuilt and that existing ones be restored and preserved at the same time, to ensure effective, secure and civilized relations."
"Condemnation of all crimes, whoever committed them, prayer for the salvation of the souls of the innocent and forgiveness, are the foundation of these civilized relations," the statement added.
