The first military dispensary opened at the location of BiH Armed Forces

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA, May 27 (FENA) - The first of four military dispensaries in Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened today at the location of Kozara barracks in Banja Luka. The initiator of this project was the British Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which provided financial resources for its implementation.

"After investing more than half a million KM, facilities in Banja Luka and Rajlovac, Tuzla and Čapljina can respond to well-trained, equipped and capable Armed Forces and will be crucial for the response of military forces and the civilian sector in the fight against Covid-19," said British Ambassador to BiH Matthew Field.

He pointed out that this is a joint project of the Armed Forces of BiH, the Ministry of Defense, and the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo and the contractor.

Minister of Defense of BiH, Sifet Podžić, said that the medical service in the Armed Forces of BiH must be developed, and that the new pandemic of the corona virus has shown that it is necessary.

He announced that the remaining three dispensaries will be opened soon.

Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Senad Mašović, pointed out that since 2005 they have faced a problem when it comes to adequate medical care, i.e. care for the health and life of members of the Armed Forces during regular tasks and peacekeeping missions.

“This is the beginning of the establishment of military health care for the needs of the Armed Forces of BiH, as well as the citizens,” Mašović pointed out.

Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier General William J. Edwards, welcomed the joint efforts of the British Embassy in BiH, the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense, as well as the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, which contributed not only to the opening of the military disppensary in Banja Luka but also through certain projects they invest in what is most valuable, human lives.
