FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 9 (FENA) - A ceremony at the Hall of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo today marked the finalization of the "Gender Analysis of the AF BiH" and the handover of equipment donated by the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in BiH.

The "Gender Analysis of the AF BiH" was prepared by the General Inspectorate of MoD BiH with the support of external experts hired by the British Embassy in BiH.

The document is the result of the work on the first phase of the project "Women, Peace and Security", which the MoD and AF BiH started last year by taking on commitments from the Security Council Resolution 1325, which refers to the affirmation of gender equality and improving the status of women in defense and security institutions.

This is the result of the initiative of the Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff of the UK Armed Forces, which was accepted by the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces of BiH, Colonel General Senad Mašović and thus joined the Network of Chiefs of Staff entitled "Women, Peace and Security", all for the purpose of gender equality in the MoD and the AFBiH.

In the next ten days, the document "Gender Analysis of the AF BiH" will be issued in all three official languages in BiH and distributed in the MoD and the AF BiH.

The British Ambassador to BiH Matthew Field pointed out that the "Gender Analysis of the AF BiH" was the first such detailed report in the Western Balkans and beyond, and added that its recommendations would help ensure greater gender equality for all members of the AF BiH.

“Today we handed over the donation of IT and office equipment to the General Inspectorate of MoD BiH. This donation, worth more than 150,000 KM, will enable more efficient and transparent work of inspectors throughout BiH. In this way, the Government of the United Kingdom supports the extremely important work of the General Inspectorate of MoD BiH on building integrity, combating corruption, and the development and modernization of the AF BiH,” said Ambassador Field.

“We are proud of this success and we thank Great Britain for the trust and wholehearted support,” concluded General Masović, stated the Public Relations Office of MoD BiH.
