SARAJEVO, June 25 (FENA) - Deputy in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nikola Špirić (Alliance of Independent Social Democrats), commented on the fact that the Bill on termination of the mandate of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH was not adopted at today's session, and told reporters that the deputies discussed the position of the competent Constitutional-Legal Committee of the House, which previously, at its session, did not support this bill.
The position of the Committee is supported, so the bill is not going into further procedure, i.e. it has not been adopted, he said.
“I do not dispute the intention of the MPs to propose new legal solutions. You know that the reform of the judicial system is a strategic reform of BiH and that there were difficult political debates when the first step in that reform was made,” said Špirić.
He said that there is dissatisfaction with the situation in the judicial system. The Government of the Republika Srpska and the line ministry are for reform, but reform of the judiciary; solving any problem separately will not solve the challenges in the judicial system. And as long as the dialogue between the European Commission and Bosnia and Herzegovina lasts, the so-called structured dialogue, that a political debate should be opened on all open issues and a valid legal solution should be reached.
Špirić also stated that today he called on all delegates of the House of Peoples not to ignore the views of other levels of government that have their role in the judicial system.
“Those levels are the Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH and the Brčko District,” he said concluding that there were no elements for the bill on the termination of the HJPC's mandate to be adopted today.
