SARAJEVO, July 7 (FENA) - The Parliament of the European Union organized an open session yesterday on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide with guest speakers Founder of the Humanitarian Law Center Nataša Kandić and Director of the Srebrenica Memorial Center Emir Suljagić.
In his speech, Suljagić assessed that it is extremely important that the Srebrenica Memorial Center has partners at that level, and that they are all committed to fighting the truth.
The Founder of the Humanitarian Law Center, Nataša Kandić, spoke about the importance of the initiative for RECOM, but also about other activities related to the fight against genocide denial.
The Chairman of the Parliamentary Delegation for BiH and Kosovo, Romeo Franz, moderated the discussion and stressed that he wanted to discuss the still difficult reconciliation process in the Western Balkans with the guests.
“It is important to mention the Initiative for the Regional Commission Tasked with Establishing the Facts about All Victims of War Crimes and Other Serious Human Rights Violations Committed on the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia (RECOM), which is mentioned as an important initiative in each of the six European Parliament resolutions following the 2018 European Commission Annual Report on the Western Balkans,” said Franz.
