Embassy of France finances projects of 11 associations in BiH

SARAJEVO, July 8 (FENA) - This spring, the French Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina announced a competition for civil society open to all areas, especially for good governance and rule of law projects, vocational training for young people, especially in rural areas and support for entrepreneurship, strengthening civic activism and valuing the skills acquired during the volunteering experience, sustainable development and the environment.

The number of applications received this year was extremely high - 177, which is twice as many as in previous years and testifies to the diversity and richness of civil society initiatives in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The French Embassy is trying to support these projects as close as possible to the needs of population and has selected 11 associations with which it will sign a partnership agreement and whose projects will be financed by France, the French Embassy in BiH announced. 

The Embassy will assist projects of the Association of Citizens "Women's Interactive Rural Center" (East Sarajevo) for the project "Social Entrepreneurship for Women's Independence in Rural Areas" in the region of Foča, Pale, Hadžići, Vogošća, Ilidža, Sokolac, Trnovo, East Ilidža, Association Ekozeleni (Tuzla) for implementation of environmental activities in Tuzla, especially motivating young people to engage in these issues.

An agreement was signed with the Association "Our Children Zenica" for the project "To Zenica with love", which promotes a healthy lifestyle and local activities to preserve the environment, Innovation Center Banja Luka for development of "smart city" solutions to strengthen and simplify ties between residents and city administration, as well as the Media-Art Association (Sarajevo) to support the organization of the international theater festival of high school students "JUVENTAFEST", and especially the integration of young people with disabilities.

The Association Radio Kameleon - Open Network of Human Rights and Democracy (Tuzla) will also receive help for the SmartCity.ba platform project aimed at improving urban governance, respecting environmental issues, the Post-Conflict Research Center PCRC (Sarajevo) to launch a magazine highlighting young talents in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the Western Balkans, that promotes democratic ideas, human rights and life together, and the Association "Spark school" (Mostar) for the organization of the event "Find your Spark", a meeting place for the promotion of new technologies, informatics and robotics for young people.

The agreement was also signed by association of citizens Rugby Club Čelik (Zenica) for the development of partnerships between the city of Zenica and French local communities through educational, cultural and sports cooperation for the benefit of young people, including especially rugby and French language, with the Association "VIVA" (Sarajevo) for "Viva School of Film ", a project intended for young people in twenty municipalities from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina to make films as a way of expressing their beliefs and challenges they face, and the Association "First Woman" (Žepče) for the project "Let's say yes to social and women's entrepreneurship” that aims to strengthen the position of women in the professional world in the municipalities of Žepče, Zavidovići and Maglaj.
