SARAJEVO, July 9 (FENA) - Only 4.802 tourist visits were recorded in Bosnia and Herzegovina in May this year, which is 212 percent more than in April, when 1.539 tourist visits were registered, and 96.9 percent less than in May 2019, when there were 152.746 tourists visits.
Tourists realized 13.713 overnight stays in May this year, which is 74.7 percent less than in April 2020 and 95.2 percent less than in May 2019. The share of domestic tourists in the total number of overnight stays was 87.8 percent, while the share of foreign tourists was 12.2 percent, the BiH Statistics Agency announced.
In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists in May 2020, most tourists came from: Saudi Arabia (22 percent), Croatia and Serbia (13.9 percent), Russia (10.8 percent), Turkey (five percent), USA and Australia with (4.1 percent) which is a total of 73.8 percent. Tourists from other countries realized 26.2 percent of overnight stays.
Special measures have been introduced at the border crossings of Bosnia and Herzegovina and countries in the region to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
