SARAJEVO, July 27 (FENA) - The Association of Independent Intellectuals ‘Circle 99’ supports the Initiative of the Bosnian Academic Society in Austria to finally give Austrian citizens with Bosnian roots the constitutional status and recognition of a national minority.
“Constitutional protection of Austrian citizens of Bosnian origin would further strengthen their position and strengthen their loyalty to the Austrian state and the values of a democratic society.
Many of them have been living and working in Austria for generations, and have been traditionally, according to the general opinion, the best socialized and integrated community in the democratic society of the Republic of Austria,” stated the Circle 99.
The very request to achieve the constitutional determination of the Bosnian national minority in the Republic of Austria to all citizens of BiH origin, regardless of their diverse religious or ethnic affiliation, "coming from the existing discriminatory ethno-nationalist BiH environment, would be an act of the greatest civilizational importance and respect."
“Their contributions to the prosperity of the Austrian nation-state as a national minority could serve as a powerful factor, inspiration and role model for the much-needed revival of the Bosnian state as a progressive democratic nation of free citizens. Living without discrimination as well as stigmatization are the foundations of human rights and fundamental freedoms of every human being, which are already being realized in the modern democracies - sovereign nations,” stated the Circle 99 association.
