Ambassador of Bulgaria visits BiH Foreigners Affairs Service in Sarajevo

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 18 (FENA) - The Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Augustina Cvetkova-Karabasheva, visited the Foreigners Affairs Service in Sarajevo with her closest associates today.

Director of the institution Slobodan Ujić introduced the guests to the work of the Service in the conditions of an increased influx of migrants in BiH. From the beginning of the year until today, 10,181 migrants have been registered in the country.

More than 5,600 migrants are currently residing in temporary reception centers in BiH. After the easing of the measures introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, the daily influx of migrants in BiH has significantly increased, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming period.

Director Ujić also emphasized that one of the challenges the Service is still facing is the lack of personnel and technical capacities. He thanked the ambassador for the support provided.

The Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria donated 75,000 KM for the reconstruction of the Immigration Center of the Foreigners Affairs Service, which will significantly improve the living conditions of migrants who have been placed under supervision and help the project to be successfully completed.
