SDP BiH: Minister Cikotić must apologize to BiH citizens for his statements

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 23 (FENA) - The Social Democratic Party of BiH (SDPBiH) assessed today that the latest statements by the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotić, in which he claimed that "there are several 'sexy' solutions to the migrant crisis", show exactly what kind of officials we have in one of the most responsible positions in the state institutions.

"Such a statement represent an insult to the citizens of Bosnian Krajina and another slap in the face to the already exhausted citizens of this part of BiH. Cikotić's twisted claims that migrants are actually tourists because they spend money and help the BiH economy affected by the pandemic are the culmination of the insolence of incompetent SDA officials. The same SDA that has turned Krajina into an appendix of Bosnia and Herzegovina after the war, in which it has not invested for decades and left it to struggle on its own," it is stated in the statement of the SDP.

Such an attitude has especially escalated in recent days, the SDP claims, when the SDA is punishing the Una-Sana Canton through the FBiH government and the BiH Council of Ministers because they helped with their votes to keep the SDA in the opposition in this canton.

The SDP BiH demands that Minister Cikotić apologizes to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially to the inhabitants of Krajina, for the comments he has made.

"We urge him to present a plan for resolving the burning migrant crisis as soon as possible. If he is not able to do that, he should resign from the ministerial position, which, obviously, he would not be remembered for," said the SDP BiH.
