SARAJEVO, August 26 (FENA) - Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Mario Nenadić and line ministers today met with Ambassador of the European Union to BiH Johann Sattler and discussed environmental protection and improvement of air quality in the Sarajevo Canton.
Prime Minister Nenadić said that the Sarajevo Canton, as a major industrial center in BiH, has problems with air pollution and it is in the interest of all citizens of the Sarajevo Canton to strategically resolve this issue.
The Study on Ventilation Corridors was completed last year, but Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of SC Faruk Kapidžić explained that it is very difficult to carry it out.
The topic of conversation was also fight against corruption in SC, and Prime Minister Nenadić said that the Government of SC provides support to the Office for Combating Corruption and Quality Management.
In that sense, the Government of SC fully supported arrival of Eric Larson as an advisor to the Office and will do everything to further strengthen this office through its work and experience, and for employees to gain additional knowledge and skills in fighting corruption.
The SC government, together with the City, has made efforts for the European Union to soon open an Info Center in an attractive location in the heart of Sarajevo in the building near the Eternal Flame, where citizens will be able to get information about EU programs and activities in BiH.
Finally, the interlocutors exchanged information on coronavirus pandemic and on that occasion, the Prime Minister informed the Ambassador about the procedures for procurement of necessary protective medical equipment, funds provided for the protection of the population in the coming period, as well as measures taken, but also pointed out problems related to establishing and expanding hospital and other necessary capacities to provide health care in the fight against coronavirus.
Ambassador Sattler concluded that the European Union was, and will remain, a loyal partner of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the Sarajevo Canton, as the state's largest donor in the fight against coronavirus, the Press Service of SC announced.
