SARAJEVO, September 9 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković received in an inaugural visit the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Aleksandar Đorđević.
Minister Turković talked with Ambassador Đorđević about the continuation of bilateral cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and resolving the outstanding issues.
Minister Turković expressed hope that the Government of Serbia would soon complete the procedure for issuing consent for the opening of the Consulate General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Novi Pazar, which, as she assessed, would significantly improve the political and economic relations between the two countries.
She stressed the need to speed up the procedures for concluding several bilateral agreements, which are in the final stages of preparation.
Turković emphasized the implementation of the Succession Agreement, resolving the issue of fees for the flooded land used by the HPP Bajina Bašta, implementation of the Protocol on determining the border point between BiH, Montenegro and Serbia, and agreements on border traffic, border crossings and maintenance and reconstruction of interstate bridges.
Ambassador Đordjević said that the relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia must be good, that the citizens of the two countries are oriented towards each other, and that it is necessary to try to solve problems.
He added that the issue of succession is in the interest of Serbia, which should be discussed, and that the issue of opening a consulate in Novi Pazar should be resolved in the coming period.
He especially emphasized the importance of the construction of the Belgrade-Sarajevo motorway, which would significantly shorten the journey between the two capital cities, but also connect the two countries even more, stated the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
