Dodik: There will be no commission for NATO integration

FENA Muhamed Hadžibegić

EAST SARAJEVO, September 9 (FENA) - BiH Presidency member Milorad Dodik said today that no commission for BiH's integration with NATO will be formed and that only a commission for cooperation with NATO can be formed.

At a press conference in East Sarajevo after a meeting of BiH Presidency members with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer, Dodik reminded that on this day NATO began bombing Serb positions in BiH, which included a significant number of civilian casualties, and all, as he claims, "on the basis of false information about the events in Markale."

“It was a good meeting at which the US representative pointed out the need for partnership between the two countries, as well as the need to resolve the internal issues of BiH by consensus,” said Dodik.

He added that the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Dayton Agreement was also discussed and that he proposed that the Presidency request termination of the mandate of the High Representative in BiH with a joint statement.

Dodik stated that he is not running away from expressing reverence for all victims of the last war in BiH, but also that an attempt should be made to harmonize the character of that war, which was called a "tragic conflict" in the Dayton Agreement, which he considers adequate.

He emphasized that they also discussed human trafficking and that the negative reports of the State Department on human trafficking in BiH put our country in a position to fall into the third rank of countries where human trafficking is pronounced and where nothing is done about it.

Dodik announced that at one of the next sessions, he would ask the Presidency to make a decision on BiH joining the Mini Schengen Initiative of the countries in the region, and for the BiH Embassy in Israel to be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

He pointed out that he had nothing against Željko Komšić's proposal for BiH to recognize Kosovo to be considered at the session, but that he would vote against and then request protection of the vital national interest.
