Čović and Palmer discuss Euro-Atlantic integration and Election Law

SARAJEVO, September 9 (FENA) - HDZ BiH President and Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Dragan Čović spoke on Wednesday with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs and State Department Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Matthew A. Palmer.

On that occasion, it was emphasized that Euro-Atlantic integration is a foreign policy priority for BiH, emphasizing the importance of consistent implementation of reform processes to build opportunities, improve coexistence and democratize BiH society.

International cooperation in this field is one of the key elements in making progress towards the European Union and NATO. Croat political officials are fully committed to achieving BiH's membership in the EU and NATO, it was concluded at the meeting.

Commenting on the 2020 local elections, they expressed satisfaction with the recent progress in signing an agreement between the HDZ BiH and the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) on changes to the election law and holding of elections in the City of Mostar.

In light of the anniversary of the Dayton Accords, Čović stressed the need for comprehensive changes to the election law to ensure that BiH's constituent peoples are truly equal and protected, and to ensure political cooperation, stability and progress through legitimate representation, the HDZ BiH announced.
