MOSTAR, September 14 (FENA) - Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković met with Ratko Perić and Petar Palić on Monday ahead of the Holy Mass on the occasion of the enthronement of the new bishop in front of the Cathedral of Mary Mother of the Church in Mostar.
Plenković told reporters that he was extremely glad to be in Mostar today on the occasion of the enthronement of the new Bishop of Mostar and Duvanj, Msgr. Palić, who he knows extremely well and who comes from his last duty on Hvar, and is also the Secretary General of the Croatian Bishops' Conference.
“Also, my arrival is a sign of great respect for the former Bishop Perić who left a huge mark here for almost three decades and I think that this transition that is happening now is important for believers, Croats, Catholics here in this diocese, which is important in general for the position and cohesion of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the Croatian Prime Minister told reporters after the meeting.
After the meeting, Perić and Palić did not give statements to the media and went to the handover ceremony of the service.
The previous bishop, Ratko Perić, performed this service for 28 years.
On Monday, on the feast of the Assumption of the Holy Cross, a Holy Mass was celebrated in the Cathedral of Mary the Mother of the Church in Mostar, during which the Bishop of Mostar and Duvanj and permanent administrator of Trebinje and Mrkanj, Petar Palić, was enthroned.
Before the enthronement ceremony, Bishop Ratko Perić looked back on all the years of his ministry and thanked both for the joys and troubles he encountered.
