SARAJEVO / VIENNA, 22 September (FENA) – BiH Foreign Minister Bisera Turković met with Director of the OSCE Conflict Prevention Center and Secretary-General Tuula Yrjölä in Vienna during her several-day visit to the Republic of Austria.
Minister Turković stated that BiH understands the extraordinary circumstances OSCE is facing, including the challenges related to the global COVID-19 pandemic, which affect the organization of various activities. She congratulated on the excellent response to the existing challenges and on the innovative tools that the OSCE introduces into its daily work, in order to keep the organization operational.
Director Yrjölä took on the role of Secretary-General in a very demanding and unpredictable period, both because of the pandemic and because of the OSCE's political perspective.
Speaking about field missions, the Minister emphasized the active participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in numerous OSCE field missions, including the most comprehensive and demanding in Ukraine, where our country's contingent is the third largest and consists of 50 staff members, it was announced today from BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As the host country of one of the largest OSCE missions in the field, Minister Turković stressed the importance of assistance provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina over the years during the recovery and building of democratic institutions, which generally makes democratic processes in the country successful.
