SARAJEVO, September 29 (FENA) - The Ombudsman Institution of Bosnia and Herzegovina has welcomed the adoption of the Law on the Protection of the Right to Trial within a Reasonable Time by the National Assembly of the entity of Republika Srpska.
As pointed out by the working group, composed of a number of legal experts; it implements the decision of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina AP-1356/17 from 2018, which ordered the authorities to legally regulate the protection of the right to a trial within a reasonable time.
The Ombudspersons of Bosnia and Herzegovina point out that the legal solutions are of very high quality, such as the regulation of requests for acceleration of proceedings, which has so far been regulated primarily from the aspect of party rights by the Rulebook on Internal Court Operations.
The most important change is to enable a lawsuit to establish a violation of the right to a trial within a reasonable time and to be fairly satisfied due to a violation of the right to a trial within a reasonable time.
The Ombudspersons of Bosnia and Herzegovina call on the Council of Ministers of BiH, the Government of the Federation of BiH and the Government of the Brčko District of BiH to continue activities on the regulation of this matter, stated the BiH Ombudsman Institution.
