SARAJEVO, September 30 (FENA) - Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković visited Bihać and the airport which is under construction and met with city and entity officials in Krajina.
Turković met with Bihać Mayor Šuhret Fazlić, and the meeting was also attended by FBiH Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Šemsudin Dedić. They talked about the migrant crisis that has hit this part of BiH the hardest, but also about the problems that some migrants are causing in Bihać.
Minister Turković stated that the issue of the migrant crisis is a problem of the entire country, and that additional efforts are needed to solve this problem, and especially reduce the pressure on Bihać and other municipalities in Krajina, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced today.
Mayor Fazlić said that it is important for Bihać that BiH as a state makes greater efforts to return migrants to their home countries.
At the meeting, Minister Turković was asked to help facilitate movement across the Izačić and Bosanski Novi border crossings.
It is stated that tourists who come to Croatia use accommodation in Bihać, and it is necessary to reduce their stay at the border, but also the stay of Krajina residents from abroad who come to visit their homeland.
Minister Turković then, together with Minister Dedić and Mayor Fazlić, visited the airport in Bihać, which is under construction.
Director of the Public Company Bihać Airport, Adnan Bajrić, informed Minister Turković that the City Council founded this company in 2015, but also about the activities undertaken so far, which include the construction of a test runway.
Bajrić pointed out that they expect the FBiH Government to take over competencies from the City level, and to finance or to take a loan, in order to finish this project, which would support the development of the economy and tourism. He stated that this project, if all the necessary conditions are met, could be realized in the next three years.
Minister Turković said that this is an important project for our country, and that she will help in accordance with her abilities.
