The Federation of BiH gets a new Law on Judicial Police

FENA Senka Trgovčević

SARAJEVO, October 1 (FENA) - The Federation of BiH will have a new Law on Judicial Police, which fully regulates the position, competences and the role of the Judicial Police, as well as the President of the Supreme Court of FBiH who is responsible for the management over the Judicial Police.

The law was passed at today's session of the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, and earlier, it was supported by the deputies in the House of Representatives.

The Government of the Federation of BiH proposed the adoption of a new law because the current one was from 1996, and did not contain comprehensive provisions and answers to numerous questions about the rights and obligations of the Judicial Police, especially the status of its officers.

A clear legislative framework has been defined for the Judicial Police to act in providing assistance to judicial institutions in the Federation of BiH, which should result in increased efficiency in the work of the judiciary.
