Turković-Nedera: Reform processes the focus of cooperation between BiH and UNDP

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, October 2 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković met today with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in BiH Steliana Nedera to discuss the implementation of projects and activities in BiH.

Turković expressed gratitude to UNDP and other UN agencies for the cooperation and support they have provided to Bosnia and Herzegovina through numerous projects, as well as the readiness of the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs for cooperation and coordination in the implementation of these activities.

She expressed hope that UNDP's activities in BiH would contribute to synergies that would enable a brighter future, prosperity and a better life for citizens.

The UNDP Resident Representative in BiH Steliana Nedera informed Minister Turković about the directions of the United Nations in response and socio-economic recovery from the consequences caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the preparation and implementation of several projects.

She stressed that UNDP, as part of the United Nations efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will focus special attention and resources in the next period on helping the economy and preserving jobs, the so-called 'green' renewal and digital transformation, aimed at introducing new digital solutions, policies and services in the public sector.

She pointed out that this year, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will allocate 45 million dollars for projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting also focused on the development of future relations in the context of the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in BiH, as well as the adoption of the Framework for Cooperation for Sustainable Development between the United Nations and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period 2021-2025 and the UNDP Strategic Plan for 2022-2025.

The focus of cooperation between BiH and UNDP will continue to be reform processes in our country, with an emphasis on investment, economic development, infrastructure projects and employment, said the Public Relations Office of the MFA of BiH.
