SARAJEVO, October 5 (FENA) - The FBiH Motorways has intensified the construction of the Corridor Vc as a capital investment in the circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic, with all preventive measures to protect workers and create safe working conditions, given that it is one of the key measures to help the domestic economy and domestic companies in the current conditions.
"Thus, the construction on all eight construction sites, whose contracts are worth 780 million KM, has not stopped. The key projects we have started have their continuity and we plan to complete them on time. We have the works in the northern part towards Nemila, then in the central part, the Ivan tunnel. Also, there are sections in the south, Buna - Počitelj and Počitelj - Zvirovići, with the Počitelj bridge which is almost a kilometer long," FENA learns from the FBiH Motorways.
At the end of August, the works began on the section Tarčin - entrance to the Ivan tunnel, so that a total of 43 kilometers are currently under construction. This year alone, the FBiH Motorways plan to complete works worth 420 million KM.
"In the current conditions, the responsibility of this company increases several times and turns into a form of social responsibility, considering that numerous economic processes in the Federation of BiH have been stopped. We are aware that 100 million KM invested in the construction of the Corridor, when multipliers are applied, affects GDP with almost 300 million KM of direct and indirect investment. That means when the planned 420 million KM is invested in the motorway, the effect on the economy will be three times greater," point out in the FBiH Motorways.
When it comes to toll collection, the FBiH Motorways have recorded a decrease in traffic on the motorway since March 16 this year. In the first six months of this year, a decrease in traffic of 18.04 percent was recorded, which resulted in a drop in revenue from toll collection of 17.07 percent.
In 2017, the EU Delegation to BiH prepared the project-study documentation for the interstate expressway Sarajevo - Višegrad - Belgrade at the level of preliminary studies and projects for the construction of the road on Route 3: Sarajevo-Vardište.
