MOSTAR, October 8 (FENA) - The FBiH Government has approved the Bill on Police Officers of the Federation of BiH.
The law is divided and systematized into 17 chapters, based on the principle that police officers can be deployed only in the FBiH Police Administration, which organizes activities in the fight against organized crime, terrorism, inter-cantonal crime, drugs and other narcotics, as well as personal protection and protection of the facility, because these tasks can be performed only by police officers, the Press Service of the FBiH Government announced.
To this end, it is prescribed that police officers may be employees of the FBiH Police Administration. Namely, with the still valid Law on Police Officers, there was a possibility for police officers to be deployed within the organizational units of the FBiH Ministry of the Interior.
The draft law prescribes the police powers that police officers undertake in order to prevent criminal offenses and maintain public safety. Certain powers relate to the work of the police officer, and others to the work of the FBiH Police Administration (processing of personal data and keeping records).
Another novelty is the obligation of police officers to undergo a periodic medical examination organized by the FBiH Police Administration. This ensures the assignment of a police officer to a job that corresponds to his/her health condition.
The draft law also establishes the possibility that the FBiH Police Administration may, as an exception when the need of the service requires, employ police officers who are currently employed in another body in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Representatives of the OHR participated in the drafting of the new law, and they believe that it is of great importance for the continuous professionalization of the police force, the statement said.
